HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Plasti-Part was established in the year 1995 by Paul and Olga Hobley. Business operations were
run with just one mould, one moulding machine, and one staff member, all operating from a double
garage.
We have come a long way since then. We now operate from our 1 086 m2 factory in Firgrove,
Somerset West and employ over 25 staff members.
We specialize in the manufacturing of quality injection moulding tools and the supply of soft or hard thermoplastics.
WHAT IS INJECTION MOULDING?
Injection moulding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting molten material into a mould, or mold. Injection moulding
can be performed with a host of materials most commonly thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers.
Material for the part is fed into a heated barrel, mixed (using a helical screw), and injected into a mould cavity,
where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the cavity.
After a product is designed, moulds are made by a mould-maker (or toolmaker) from metal, usually either steel or aluminium,
and precision-machined to form the features of the desired part.
Injection moulding is widely used for manufacturing a variety of parts, from the smallest components to entire body panels of cars.
Injection moulding uses a special-purpose machine that has three parts: the injection unit, the mould and the clamp.
Parts to be injection-moulded must be very carefully designed to facilitate the moulding process; the material used for the part, the desired shape
and features of the part, the material of the mould, and the properties of the moulding machine must all be considered.
The versatility of injection moulding is facilitated by this breadth of design considerations and possibilities.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
This is an open question. It depends on the design and complexity of the mould. Is it a single component? On a single mould, it can take anywhere between 4 - 10 weeks.
Quotations typically take between 3 - 5 business days if a CAD design is supplied.
Plasti-Part can create CAD drawings for you.
Provided that there are no I.P (Intellectual Property) or trademark infringements, yes we can.
Yes. Each with its own strengths and weaknesses.
There is no minimum order quantity. However, injection moulding is not normally suited for low volume production. Optimal quantities would be over a 100 parts per month.
You can email sales@plastipart.com regarding new products/moulds. Someone will be in contact with you. Alternatively you can fill in the "contact us form".
Yes, we do have credit facilities. Pending application review and sufficient trading history.
